Language Learners Come Together

Students from the SCLC’s partner ESL program at UNA Universidad National de Costa Rica came out to visit the SCLC volunteers for a little language “intercambio” and a hike through the Selva Verde Primary Old Growth Forest. The students are in UNA’s specialized Tourism and Recreation Program so this experience afforded them the unique opportunity to not only visit with native English speakers but also have what was for many of them their first introduction to Primary Forests. Guides Michael Sevilla and Alejandro Esquivel Gaitán, had the students take turns practicing introductions and presenting Costa Rican treasures such as the glass frog, walking palm, bromeliads and the well known leaf cutter ants. What a day for learning about nature, learning about language and learning about each other!!
